The Village Voice has a brief but quite correct item on the Jonathan Lethem/Mary Gaitskill talk at the Brooklyn Book Festival.  “Combination Pizza Hut and Taco Bell” became almost a running joke during the hour. ‘Twas Bananas!  For serious.  Oh but also:  Laura Albert, aka JT LeRoy — who was dressed like a goth Strawberry Shortcake doll channeling Like a Virgin era Madonna — was at the event seated front and center.  She bent Gaitskill’s ear afterwards, a convo which apparently progressed all the way to the signing table.  Is this the first they’d spoken since the LeRoy hoax was revealed?  What did they discuss?  Makeup tips?  One can only speculate.
