High Quality
[Breakfast at Tiffany’s screening. Brooklyn Bridge Park.8/11/11.]
About ten percent of my motivation to attend the screening of Breakfast at Tiffany’s this evening could be ascribed to a need to prick a particular wound, as it is one of the movies I associate so much with a certain type of romancing of New York, and as I am trying to distance myself a bit from the hold the city has on me.
(The rest is due to the fact that J. hadn’t ever seen the film—I know, right?!—and I hadn’t seen him in awhile so it became a plan. Plus the weather was lovely.)
Like chain smoking cigarette after cigarette until you never want one again, or drinking grain alcohol until you have the worst hangover of your life and swear off spirits completely, maybe I’ve been trying to surfeit myself to make aspects of leaving easier?
It never works, of course. But you can attempt it.
