While I was away I received this desperate electronic missive from my sister:
Do you remember a book you gave me to read in high school – it was sort of like “My So-Called Life” with a heroine who started dressing from thrift stores and making new friends, smoking pot, etc, in the 1990s? She loses her virginity in a sleeping bag at a lake or something. It may have been written by a dude…? Anyhow, I cannot think of it or find it anywhere. Oh, she has a “fish shirt” and a “cow shirt” – her faves from the thrift store. Lives in Oregon?
Normally I could activate my Wonder Twin powers and solve this, but I’m stumped! I turn to you now. If this vaguely resembles a book you read sometime in the mid-to-late 90s, leave an answer for me please.
Update: We have a winner! Bennett is correct as always in these matters. The book in question is Girl by Blake Nelson. Thanks for playing errybody.
