Because I’m a cranky old contrarian, someone please explain the appeal of Lady GaGa to me in twenty-five words or less. (Caveat: I actually saw the lady in question perform downtown a year or so ago — right before she left to do Lollapalooza — and it was entertaining-ish, rather like spying on your sister’s slumber party and watching her lip-sync Prince into her hairdryer...

From an IM with my sister, in which we decide how much alcohol should be consumed while watching the “Mad Men” season finale:
